Our Story
It started with a dove hunt, a generous rancher, and an idea that wouldn't let go.
CheckPoint Veterans was born from a simple act of generosity, and the shared belief that veterans are strongest when they stand together.
It all began during a dove hunt in George West, Texas. A group of veterans came together to enjoy the outdoors and the camaraderie that so many miss after leaving military service. Wanting to show their appreciation, two of them organized a fundraiser for the owner of the ranch, a fellow veteran who had graciously opened his property for the hunt.
When the funds were presented to him, he humbly declined them. Instead, he insisted the money go toward reimbursing the people who had donated food, supplies, and other resources to make the event possible. His selflessness, and the generosity of everyone involved, reflected the same spirit of service that continues to unite veterans long after they leave the military.
Witnessing that kindness sparked an idea: if one hunting trip could bring together so many people willing to serve one another, imagine what could be built around that same purpose.
CheckPoint Veterans was formed that October, in 2025, with a simple mission: bring veterans together through outdoor adventures, build meaningful relationships, and create a community where no veteran has to face life's challenges alone.
That same spirit still guides everything we do today, creating opportunities for veterans to reconnect, heal, and find purpose through fellowship and the outdoors.
